Volunteer Positions
The Women’s Center offers a variety of ongoing direct and indirect volunteer opportunities. All volunteers require a background check and must be at least 18 years old. Direct volunteers require a 6-month commitment alongside Advocacy Training and fingerprinting.
Direct Volunteer Positions – these opportunities may work directly with clients*
Please check the one(s) that are most interesting to you.
- Hotline & Shelter Support: Assist Advocates and clients in the shelter, answer the 24-hour Hotline, clean rooms, and help with administrative work.
- On-Call Advocate: Provide after-hours advocacy at nine local hospitals and emergency transportation for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence (must reside in Waukesha County).
- None of the above
Indirect Volunteer Positions – these opportunities provide support to staff but do not interact directly with clients*
Please check the one(s) that are most interesting to you. These positions are only available Monday-Thursday from 9 AM to 4 PM.
- Data Entry/Clerical Help: Enter data, send emails, scan documents, organize files.
- Painting Main Building & TL Homes: Help prep areas, tape walls, and paint.
- Cleaning Main Building & Shelter: Deep cleaning on the Shelter floor (bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms), washing windows & carts, minor cleaning around building.
- Prepping TL Units: Deep cleaning TL units, moving furniture in/out of them, making move in kits as needed.
- Gardening/Watering Plants: Pull weeds, plant flowers, trim trees/bushes, rake leaves.
- Lawn Mowing: Mowing front lawn, garden lawn, and TL house lawns.
- Maintenance Projects: Minor repairs with walls & built-in cabinets, hanging blinds, painting, and carpentry.
