The Women’s Center is dedicated to the eradication of injustices and violence in our communities and beyond. We hold racial justice as a fundamental value and believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, fairness, and integrity.
Standing alongside survivors and advocates of color, we are committed to applying this belief as a guiding principle in all decisions affecting the agency and those we serve.
Specifically, in pursuit of equity for all, we commit to the following:
- Creating a safe, accepting space by treating all with dignity and respect; demonstrating an understanding of the unique barriers each survivor faces when seeking support; and using inclusive language.
- Holding ourselves and others accountable by addressing racism, including microaggressions, in the workplace and the community.
- Examining and addressing our own biases by continuing our education on anti-racist beliefs and behaviors in all practices.
As we evolve, listen, and grow as an agency, we will strive to be allies for diversity, challenging those in disagreement or opposition. We will not be complacent with our progress as advocates for change.
